In the summer of 2026, the robotics market is bifurcating. On one side, the "media darlings"—humanoid startups promising general-purpose butlers, chasing generative-AI valuations with hardware that barely works. On the other, the industrialists: companies that realize the first trillion-dollar vertical for robotics isn't the living room; it's the warehouse.

The news cycle confirms it. Mech-Mind has passed its Hong Kong IPO hearing (per the Aug 18 HKEX weekly report) and is gauging investor demand for a listing (i-CABLE, Aug 17). Unitree's IPO is under scrutiny—Chinese coverage this month ("UnitreeIPObehind302procurement documents," Aug 15) dwells on the gap between capital enthusiasm and a tender-document reality of 302 procurement filings. And Washington has banned Chinese humanoid robots outright (Aug 7 reporting), fracturing the market into geopolitical blocs.
